Screening & Endorsement Committee

S&E Committee Members shall be elected at the Senate District Caucus by July 1st of each odd numbered year. Districts that have yet to elect their representative to serve on this committee must caucus its membership to elect a representative by January 21, 2022.
The Committee will interview candidates for the following statewide offices: Governor; Lieutenant Governor; Attorney General; Comptroller of Public Accounts; Commissioner of the General Land Office; Commissioner of Agriculture; Railroad Commissioner; Supreme Court Justice Place 3, Place 5, and Place 9; Court of Criminal Appeals Place 5 and Place 6.
Constitution & Bylaws Committee
The Constitution & Bylaws committee will introduce two sets of amendments at the General Assembly consideration: Amendment 1 (State Dues Increase from $10 to $15); Amendment 2, 3, and 4 (Change references to “the opposite sex” and subsite Texas Democratic Party language of “persons who identify as a different gender).
The Constitution and Bylaws can be amended at a convention by a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the Tejano Democrats membership, provided that amendments be mailed to all members at least three weeks prior to said meeting.
Convention Registration
Registration is required to participate in convention meetings. Voting on resolutions, endorsements, general policy, and legislative programs shall be open to all members who joined Tejano Democrats at least thirty (30) days before the meeting at which they seek to vote and who have been certified by the membership of Tejano Democrats as members.
Virtual meetings will be conducted via Zoom. Participants will be required to be visible in order to be recognized to speak and vote on convention business. General Assembly voting shall be by chapter strength. A candidate must receive sixty percent (60%) vote of the full Tejano Democrats membership in order to receive the endorsement.
